Israeli Media Technologies Take Madison Avenue by Storm

On March 5-6, fourteen Israeli technology companies with solutions for the advertising and marketing industries visited New York City as part of a delegation organized by the Israel Economic Mission in New York and the Israel Export Institute.

By the numbers:

  • 2 business days: the length of the event.
  • 14 Israeli technology companies visiting New York as part of a roadshow organized by the Israel Economic Mission and the Israel Export Institute.
  • 15 minutes:  the time allotted for each one-on-one meeting between a U.S. host and Israeli company.    Each U.S. host specifically pre-selected the Israeli companies and solutions that they would like to meet with, based on their own needs.   In turn, each Israeli company specifically accepted each meeting.
  • 16 leading New York companies in the media, advertising, PR and investment space who agreed to host meetings for the delegation.
  • ~19 hours: the total number of hours during which the Israeli companies crisscrossed Manhattan for meetings over the course of those two business days.  On Monday, the first meetings began at 9:30am and the last ones concluded at 5:30pm.  On Tuesday, our meetings began at around 8:30am and continued until about 7:30pm.
  • 25 hours: the cumulative amount of time that Israeli companies spent in meetings with potential clients, partners and investors over the course of those 19 hours.
  • ~100 total one-on-one meetings organized for the Israeli technology companies with decision makers at the New York host companies.  Each was a premium quality meetings, specifically requested by our American hosts and accepted by the visiting Israeli company.

Investing in Israeli Technology @ Needham & Co.

On Tuesday afternoon, the delegation headed to the offices of Needham & Company, a New York investment house, for a fabulous Israeli technology day.  At this event, organized and hosted by our friends at Needham, several Israeli companies were able to present their solutions in front of VC’s, banks, attorneys and other investors.  Additionally, the event provided further opportunities for productive one-on-one meetings with potential investors and partners.

Cocktail Reception with USIBC

Finally, the delegation concluded their stay in New York with a Tuesday evening reception hosted by the Israel Economic Mission in New York and the U.S.-Israel Business Council.  At the reception, which took place in a 42nd street penthouse overlooking Times Square, the companies and our guests sipped Israeli wines and were treated to a keynote address by Don Sperling, VP and Executive Producer for the 2011 Super Bowl Champion New York Football Giants.   Mr. Sperling talked about how the Giants have successfully leveraged social media and technology to stay in contact with fans during the offseason.  During the season, playing in a new stadium, the Giants were able to ride the energized support base on the way to their eight world championship.   One particular social media initiative specifically incorporated an Israeli technology company.

Following the reception, the Israeli companies headed to the airport in order to embark on a similar two-day roadshow in Chicago, en-route to SXSW in Texas.

Special thanks to Lee Aviram from the Israel Export Institute; and also the team from USIBC.
