Revision of the REACH Regulation

In January 2022, the European Commission launched a public consultation seeking stakeholders’ views on the planned revision of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and restriction of Chemicals (REACH Regulation or REACH). The European Commission is expected to unveil its proposal on the revision of the REACH Regulation by the end of 2022. As part of this process, the European Commission is considering various options, including revising the registration requirements (also in terms of increasing information requirements and establishing the obligation to register polymers); introducing mixtures assessment factors; reforming the authorisation and restriction processes; extending the generic approach to risk management; and introducing the “essential use” concept.
