Li Ka-shing has invested in 29 Israeli companies and counting. Israel has the 4th highest # of listings on NYSE/NASDAQ after the US, Canada, and China. Apple, Facebook, Google, IBM, Cisco are all acquiring Israeli companies. Since 2012, more than 30 entities from China and Hong Kong invested in Israel that had not previously done so and that number is growing at an annual rate of 50%. Chinese tech giants – Alibaba, Baidu, Fosun, Lenovo, and Xiaomi – have signed deals to open R&D centers in Israel.
With a population of just over 8M people (not much more than Hong Kong), what makes the holy land such a technology powerhouse? It’s history? It’s people? Culture? Wondering what the startup scene in Israel’s business hub Tel Aviv is like and can Hong Kong startup founders replicate Israel’s success?
Come meet Mike Feldman, Itay Damti and Dr. Gordon Yen, who will share their insights and stories about what’s happening on the ground in Israel, why the country is so hot with Chinese and Asian investors, and what you can learn from it all. You’ll also hear the classic Israel story where a few army buddies build their startup into a major fintech player with 160 employees and offices in five countries.
