Alibaba founder and chairman Jack Ma visited Israel on 30 April 2018 together with 35 senior executives from the Chinese tech giant.
Jack Ma met the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Economy and Industry Eli Cohen during his visit and discussed about artificial intelligence, big data and cyber security topics. He received an honorary doctorate from Tel Aviv University (TAU), after meeting its students and graduates in a question and answer session.
It is the first time Jack Ma visiting Israel, although there were already many encounters between Alibaba and Israeli business. For example, in Dec 2014, Alibaba first invested in an Israeli QR code startup company Visualead (It was also acquired last Nov), followed by Infinity AR, Lumsus, Twiggle, ThetaRay amd EZbob.
