ebay, which operates world’s biggest and most popular online retail website, with more than 100 million users, is greatly expanding its activity in Israel.

ebay has acquired three Israeli companies to date: Shopping.comThe Gifts Project and Fraud Sciences. Currently eBay’s Israel activity is centered in Netanya and Tel Aviv, but according to YNETNews, the Company plans to unify the two into one large development center and hire dozens of Israeli employees. This would turn the Israeli center into one of eBay’s only technology centers in the world (joining 3 U.S. centers, one in China and one in India).

The Israeli development center will focus on building catalogues, creating information on products and developing tools for social commerce, aimed at allowing collective purchases and sharing the buying process with other users.
