MWC Barcelona is coming up quickly next week, and as Ynet News reported, 4 Israeli apps are competing in the prestigious Global Mobile Awards competition.

Nagivation app develope Waze is in nominated in the main category, Judges Choice – Best Overall Mobile App, and will compete against four of the world’s most famous applications: The Dropbox file hosting service, the Flipboard technology news application, the Sky Sports F1 software and the Square electronic payment service.

Isracard’s application is nominated in the Best NFC/ Mobile Money Product or Service category. The application, which was developed by Raanana-based YKM, combines MyCheck’s mobile payment technology, allowing users to pay at businesses, gas stations and restaurants without presenting an actual credit card.

Israeli uTest, a “marketplace for software testing services,” which brings together companies and software testers all over the world, is nominated in the Best Enterprise Mobile Service category.

Intucell, which develops mobile network management technologies and was recently sold to Cisco for $475 million, is nominated in the Best Mobile Infrastructure category for a special Self-Optimizing Network (SON) project it conducted with AT&T.

Some 1,500 companies from 205 countries will display their products at the MWC exhibition, which opens on February 25. Israel will be represented by more than 100 companies – the fourth largest presence in the event after the United States, the United Kingdom and France.
