Israel to enhance cooperation with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
New Delhi, December 9, 2014: Ambassador Daniel Carmon paid a two-day visit to the city of Hyderabad on December 8-9, 2014. During his visit, he met with Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu and discussed possible ways to continue the cooperation between Israel and Andhra Pradesh, mainly through the joint working group that was set up following their meeting in August this year. Both had agreed that it is imperative to focus on the joint activities of Israel and Andhra Pradesh in specific issues such as water, internal security and agriculture to guarantee their success. Ambassador Carmon extended invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Israel to attend the Agritech Israel 2015 – the 19th International Agricultural Technology Exhibition, one of the world’s most important exhibitions in the field of agricultural technologies. The exhibition will be held April 28 – 30, 2015.
The ambassador was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Yahel Vilan, the Commercial Attaché Mr. Yoni Ben Zaken, MASHAV and Agriculture Cooperation Attaché Mr. Dan Alluf and Deputy Defense Attaché for HLS Defense Cooperation Natan Reuven.
The Ambassador also called on Governor of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Mr. E S L Narasimhan and elaborated on the excellent relations with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and expressed Israel’s keenness to promote collaboration in the fields of agriculture, water and internal security. He also held meetings with DGP of Andhra Pradesh Mr. J V Ramudu and DGP of Telangana Mr. Anurag Sharma.
More than 60 participants took part in a round table conference “India-Israel Relations- Way Forward” that was organized in order to find growth opportunities of Israel in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
During the course of visit, Ambassador Carmon attended the launch event of the Israeli company ADAMA Agricultural Solutions, which provides comprehensive crop protection solutions. In the event, ADAMA president and CEO, Chen Lichtenstein, unveiled its plan to invest $50 million more in India in the next three to four years in distribution network and research and development, in order to meet food security challenges and to empower Indian farmers with right solutions to increase their yield. ADAMA has an R&D centre in Hyderabad, which is the only one of its kind outside Israel.
