This year around 50 Israeli companies participated in Medica 2015 which was held during Nov.16–19, 2015 at Düsseldorf in Germany. The main exhibitors were in Hall 16 Stand G 40. But the companies were also showcasing their Products/ Technologies in Hall 3, 5 and 8.
Israel being a global technology research and development center, its strength in this sector stems from inter-disciplinary capabilities, which bring together medicine, clinical expertise, materials science, electronics, software expertise and engineering know-how. Israeli development centers of multinational companies have an annual turnover of billions of dollars.
The Israeli companies had vast product range to offer in areas such as Minimally Invasive Systems, General Surgery, ICU, Imaging & Robotics, Telemedicine, Cardiovascular, Neurology & Degenerative Diseases, Oncology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy, Urology, Women’s Health, Wound Management, Oral & Dental Care, Dermatology & Aesthetics, Diabetics & Obesity, ENT, Gastrointestinal, Gynecology, Obstetrics, Prenatal, Diagnostic & Monitoring, Disposable & Implantable, Endoscope, Infection Control etc.
The Indian Healthcare industry which comprises hospitals, medical infrastructure, medical devices, clinical trials, outsourcing, telemedicine, health insurance and medical equipment was estimated to $96 billion in 2013 and expected to reach US$ 280 billion by 2020, due to increase demand for specialized and quality healthcare facilities. The industry is rapidly developing and is being fueled by large investments from existing corporate hospital chains and new entrants backed by private equity investors. This growth will be driven by healthcare facilities, private-public projects, medical diagnostic and pathological laboratories, and the mediclaim health insurance sector.
From Indian perspective, Israeli Pavilion in Medica 2015 attracted many Importers and distributors. Keeping in view the interests of Israeli companies more than 100 meetings were scheduled with Indian Importers and Distributors through Global Event Scheduling portal of Foreign Trade Administration and around 40 on the spot meetings with new Indian companies.
The Indian companies were assisted in scheduling the meetings and came to Israeli Pavilion were Datt Medi Products Limited, Microgen Hygiene Pvt. Ltd, Kumar and Brothers, Aimil Ltd., Blue Star Engineering & Electronics Ltd, Indus Breath Life Pvt. Ltd., Healthware Private Limited, Chanakya Pharma, Devyog Impex Pvt Ltd., New Prajwal Imports.
While at the Israeli Pavilion we were able to get attention of around 20 new Indian companies which showed their interests in meeting Israeli companies. Some of them were Chroma NV, Immuno Concept, MIL Laboratories, Life Med, Taurus Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, Technomed, Global Healthcare, Trivitron Group, Bafna Healthcare, Labex, Digitex Medical, OSB Agencies, Novateus, Fair Deal, Nishika Enterprises, Uma Surgicals etc. The companies were interested in being the Importers and Distributors in India. Out of these Apollo Hospitals and Trivitron Group are one of the largest Importers of Medical devices in India.
