The Consul for Trade & Economic Affairs, Dr. Shai Moses and V. Sundaram from the Consulate General of the State of Israel – Bangalore, were invited by Kerala Police Cyberdome to participate in the above said conference as delegates. A brief detail is as follows.
The International Cyber Security & Policing Conference was conducted by the Kerala Police in Kollam a small picturesque town 70kms north of Trivandrum, the Kerala state capital. This conference is an annual event conducted in association with POLCYB – The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace based in British Columbia, Canada, their goal is to enhance international partnerships among public and private professionals to prevent and combat crimes in cyberspace.
Kerala Police has initiated a project, Cyberdome it is a technological research and development centre imparting technology to deliver effective policing and proactive cyber security in the state.
The program’s inauguration was by the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala Justice Mr. P. Sathasivam, Retd. Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India. Other eminent personalities in the inauguration Mr. N.K. Premachandran MP of Kollam, Mr. Loknath Behera, IPS (DGP & State Police Chief).
The conference saw a good amount of eminent speakers. The technical session opened with a talk on cyber security by Mr. Ben Herzberg – Security Research Group Manager from Imperva Incapsula, Israel. There were topics ranging from Jihadism & Cryptography, live demo sessions about ethical hacking. There was also a panel discussion on the topic “Addressing cyber issues in smart & safe cities. The panellists included Bessie Pang & Scott Warren from The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace and Suhel Daud – FBI, Asst Legal Attache.
The two day conference was completely focused on cyber security dealing in subjects such as darkweb, ransomeware, financial underworld, future crime on the first day and the second day dealt with security of smart cities, risk and compliance, use of social media by extremists and how it can be turned to law enforcement agency’s advantage.
There was also discussion on topics such as Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties, Letter Rogatary, setting up of social media lab in every districts and states, dark apps, cyber security frameworks, demystifying cyber warfare.
Lots of networking done, time for gearing up to implement the things, which were discussed.
