This year in June Tel Aviv hosted the 1st Water Emergency Relief conference and exhibition. It started with a networking event at Jaffa Port on 12th June evening.
The next two days there were discussions on a range of topics like Emergency and Floods Preparedness and Introduction to Israel’s Water Emergency Concepts. Water emergency specialists from around the world share their experience, challenges, solutions, and conclusions from real-life events. The speakers were
- Jean Spencer – Director of Strategic Growth and Resilience, Anglian Water, UK
- Stéphane Jacobzone – Counsellor/Deputy Head of Division, Public Governance Directorate, OECD, France
- Colin Deiner – Chief Director, Disaster Management and Fire/Rescue Services Western Cape Government, South Africa
- Truong Hong Tien (Dr. Eng) – Director of the Environmental, Management Division, Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS), Vietnam
- Raymond Riordan – Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) ,International Association of Emergency Managers, USA
- Avraham Ben Josef – Engineering & Technologies, Vice President, Mekorot the National Water Company of Israel
Mr. Csaba Haranghy – CEO, Budapest Waterworks, Hungary delivered the keynote address.
There was a live demonstration where participants experienced Israeli water technologies, water security and crisis management modalities. Many other interesting activities were organized for the international visitors.
In total about 51 Israeli companies participated in the event and 65 foreign guests attended it. There were 3 delegations – from Australia, Belgium and U.K. About 113 B2B meetings were prescheduled and many more took place on the spot.
Two most distinguished guests from India attended the Conference. First is Ms. Rochi Khemka from Global Partnerships & India Program 2030 Water Resources Group (World Bank) and the other is Dr. S K Sarkar, Former Secretary, Min. of Water Resources & DoPT Distinguished Fellow & Senior Director Natural Resources and Climate Programme TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute).
