Chief Scientist of Israel visits Mumbai

On July 23rd, 2018 Dr. Ami Appelbaum, Chairman of the Innovation Authority and Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, visited Mumbai to promote investments in Israel in cooperation with the Trade Mission of Israel in Mumbai.

The Innovation Authority of Israel is responsible for the country’s innovation policy. It creates cooperation with counterpart agencies to promote technological innovation in the Israeli industry and economy. The Authority provides a variety of practical tools and funding platforms aimed at addressing the dynamic and changing needs of the local and international innovation ecosystems.

During his visit, Dr. Appelbaum met with some big Indian conglomerates headquartered in Mumbai. The objective of his meetings with the conglomerates was to increase existing cooperation, explore possible opportunities and further collaboration with Israel.

Later in the evening, he had an exclusive closed-door session with high-profile participants who represented prominent family offices, VCs, corporate VCs and other investors from the Mumbai region. Through this session the investors gained insights on the Innovation ecosystem and Investment Opportunities in Israel.

Recently, there has been a growing interest among Indian investors and corporations seeking investment and R & D opportunities in Israel. In view of this interest, Dr. Appelbaum’s visit comes within the framework of the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries and the warming up of relations in the political and tourist spheres.
