This year was the second edition of the CANNESERIES. The event aims to highlight series from the world over. It is a platform for TV creators from all over the world to showcase their works across all genres.

At this year’s Festival, the Israeli series ‘Nehama’ was shown as the opening event. The series is created, co-written and stars Israeli stand-up comedian and filmmaker, Reshef Levi. Levi won the prestigious Best Performance award for Nehama! Incidentally, Nehama was the only Israeli series that was shown at the event this year.

Nehama is a drama – comedy that exudes Levi’s brilliant performance. The plot surrounds Levi as a dad of five kids whose wife’s untimely death makes him tackle the situation of being a single father and coping with a career comeback at the same time. This series by HOT truly highlights some key gender issues that we still face in the global scenario.

Hence it is worthwhile to note that while Israel is known as the ‘Start-Up’ nation of the world due to its advancements in the domain of technology, medicine and R&D across several sectors, it is also increasingly becoming known for its originality and inventiveness in the TV formats industry. Levi’s win at the esteemed CANNESERIES is a proof of that.
