Meeting in Water Resources Department Government of Karnataka

The Bangalore Consulate Trade Team met with Mr. Rakesh Singh, Principal Secretary of WRD of Government of Karnataka. The Water Resources Department is one of the major department in GOK which harnesses surface water for irrigation and drinking water purposes.  The meeting was very significant to contribute towards Israeli participation in the major projects in Karnataka.  The active participation of Israeli Companies in the projects envisaged by WRD, GOK would enable the same to be included in the Budget for 2020-21.

 

Government of Karnataka proposes to lay down pipes to draw water and supply for both irrigation and drinking water to villages, as open canal systems leads to misuse and tampering.  Mr. Rakesh Singh stated that a meeting with the Urban Development Department along with the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department, GoK, Bangalore would highlight the projects in pipeline for 2020 and identification of suitable Israeli water technology companies, accordingly.

 

A mention was also made about Ramthal Project wherein six lac acres of land have adopted drip irrigation and balance lands to be covered by February 2020.  A suggestion was made to visit Ramthal Project in Hungund taluk of Bagalkot district along with the Trade Team.
