Israeli researchers have now developed a device that predicts an epileptic seizure one hour in advance, with the help of machine learning algorithms. This device is called Epiness.

Epilepsy is a central nervous system (neurological) disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behaviour, sensations, and sometimes loss of awareness. Anyone can develop epilepsy. Epiness is designed using an EEG-based monitoring of brain activity and the
suitable machine learning algorithms. Its machine-learning algorithms extract informative measures of underlying brain dynamics and distinguish between brain activity before an expected epileptic seizure and brain activity when a seizure is not expected to occur.

This is a very crucial and helpful device as it helps the patient as well as the caretakers to prepare in advance. The fact that it concentrates on brain activity rather than muscle movements or heart rate makes it about 97% accurate.
