No one can deny the growing pace of Alternative Proteins that has taken the food industry by storm. And while there are many countries that are at the forefront of this race, there is no escaping the fact that Israel is one of the world leaders in the field of vegan foods and alt. proteins.

While the above-mentioned statement is a decisive fact in itself, it is well supported by statistics and numbers, which only prove that Israel is carving out a significant niche for itself in the alternative protein market.

In 2020, the alternative protein companies in Israel raised $114million, which is eight times more than what they raised in 2018, which was $14 million. Israel has been an emerging pioneer in the field of alternative proteins for the last five years and has only strengthened its position in the field through its dedicated R&D & prowess in tissue engineering, stem-cell research, etc.

One of the fastest-growing sectors in Israel’s tech ecosystem, Alternative Proteins has been consistently gaining strong momentum in Israel by both- the consumers and investors. This has also made Israel an attractive hub for all alt. protein-based needs of companies all over the world.

Whether you are looking for mock meat, dairy-free products, or plant-based proteins, or whether it’s the finished products you are interested in or the technology itself, Israel will definitely have the answers for you.

According to GFI, Israel (Good Food Institute), 28 active laboratories in Israel are directly involved in researching alternative proteins, making it one of the most sought-after countries in the world for plant-based & alternative meat innovation. Apart from this, Israel is ranked second in the world (right behind the USA) in the number of cellular agriculture companies and fermentation companies in the world.

Even though this sector is still in its infancy, it is slowly but surely going to change the face of the food-tech industry all across the globe. Also, it’s safe to say that with all the unique innovations, upgrades, and technological advances that Israel has to offer, it will definitely lead the global alternative protein markets that will soon change and dominate people’s eating habits worldwide.
