An Israeli-founded company, which is headquartered in Canada, has developed a nasal spray to prevent infections of the upper respiratory systems and other viral infections like Covid-19. The company – SaNOtize, founded by Israeli scientist Dr. Gilly Regev and Dr. Chris Miller in 2017 is a pharmaceutical company based in Vancouver.

After undergoing various phases of clinical trials, this nasal spray product has been approved for sale in India. The spray is proven to reduce the load of the virus in mild cases in adults. As told by Dr. Gilly Regev, this is the first time in medical history that a nitric oxide based product has been approved to treat a disease as an antimicrobial.

In India, the nasal spray is licensed by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals for manufacturing and marketing. India lost a lot of precious lives during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in April-May 2021 and faced severe shortages of medical supplies among other things. With the pandemic still not over, this spray will surely prove to be an effective line of treatment against the Covid-19 virus in India.
