A country with more than half of the area covered in desert does not seem to be the most likely place to be a hub of media content. So, while Israel is known as the “Start-Up Nation” of the world it is increasingly becoming known for its TV formats and content industry.

It all began with Betipul, a psychotherapy drama, which was made into an HBO drama In Treatment. Later came the success of Hatufim, the Israeli series about three Prisoners Of War, who return home after years of captivity, which turned into Homeland. In India, Hostages, Rising Star, Your Honour, Mind the Malhotras and many more have been remade from Israeli shows in India.

Tanaav is the latest addition to adaptation in India. Tanaav, which means stress in Hindi is a web series which is currently being aired in India. What is unique about Tanaav is the fact that it is adapted from the globally acclaimed Israeli series “Fauda” by Yes Studios, Israel. While Fauda is based on the Israel-Gaza conflict, Tanaav is based on the political volitality in Kashmir between the Special Task Forces and the insurgents in the Kashmir valley. Directed by the much-admired Indian director Mr. Sudhir Mishra and produced by a leading content studio and powerhouse of media, Applause Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., Tanaav promises to be as intriguing and intense as its Israeli counterpart.
