Meer dan 50 Israëlische bedrijven hebben haar next generation medische hulpmiddelen dit jaar op de Israel stand tijdens MEDICA gepresenteerd. Onder de Israëlische innovaties die aanwezig waren vindt u: de buikriem voor zwangeren voor het bewaken van het welzijn van de foetus, de heupriem voor senioren ter verlaging van het risico op bot en heupbreuken als ook de Mobiele App voor Asthmatische kinderen. Drie Israëlische apps haalden tevens de Top 10 van de medische apparaten Applications List.
1500 zakelijke bijeenkomsten in een driedaagse marathon – dat is wat het Israel paviljoen in petto had voor de Israëlische bedrijven die deel hebben genomen aan de twee internationale conferenties in Düsseldorf, MEDICA en COMPAMED. Het Israëlische Ministerie van Handel en Economie en haar 40 wereldwijde handelskantoren hebben in samenwerking met het Israëlische Export Institute bijgedragen tot het tot stand komen van alle zakelijke afspraken op deze internationale beurs. Vertegenwoordigers van de Israëlische bedrijven waren aanwezig op beide exposities en hebben gedurende de beurs ontmoetingen gehad met vooraanstaande bedrijven en medische apparaten distributeurs uit Europa en de rest van de wereld. MEDICA opende dit jaar voor het eerst op een maandag en verwelkomde 150.000 bezoekers uit 100 landen.
Voor het eerst was er dit jaar ook een nationale stand op de COMPAMED expo, die zich voornamelijk richt op onderaannemrers in de medische industrie, in aanvulling op het nationale paviljoen op de MEDICA expo, ‘s werelds grootste en belangrijkste tentoonstelling voor medische apparatuur.
Officiele opening van het Israel paviljoen
Dit jaar hebben aan de Israëlische nationale stands naast de veteranen van het jaarlijkse evenment tien nieuwe bedrijven deelgenomen. En drie Israëlische apps (iFeel Labs, MobileODT en Doctome) behoorden tot de finalisten van een internationale competitie voor geavanceerde medische apps als onderdeel van MEDICA.
Alle Israëlische deelnemers van de nationale stands presenteerden een verscheidenheid aan innovaties op het gebied van life sciences in het algemeen en medische apparatuur in het bijzonder, inclusief nieuwe technieken in de diagnostiek, apparatuur voor ziekenhuizen en klinieken, therapeutische apparaten en nog veel meer. Meer dan 200 buitenlandse bedrijven en organisaties uit de hele wereld bezochten de stands voor afspraken met de Israëlische bedrijven.
Ohad Cohen, Hoofd Foreign Trade Administration van het Israëlische Ministerie Economische Zaken: “De activiteiten van ons netwerk van onze wereldwijde handelsvertegenwoordigers op internationale beurzen zoals MEDICA draagt bij aan de exportgroei van de deelnemende Israëlische bedrijven. Onze marketing is voornamelijk gebaseerd op de Israëlische innovatie -. met een bijzondere focus om zoveel mogelijk internationale bezoekers bloot te stellen aan de brede scala van Israëlische innovaties. Dit jaar zullen deze innovaties op een uitzonderlijk groot podium worden gepresenteerd – door middel van twee nationale stands. Wij verwachten een aanzienlijke groei te zien aan buitenlandse vertegenwoordigers die kennis willen maken met deze Israëlische bedrijven, die zich richten op innovaties op het gebied van preventieve geneeskunde en tele-geneeskunde -. dat met name in ontwikkelingslanden patiënten op afstand toegang tot medische zorg biedt. Daarnaast zien we een groeiende belangstelling van bedrijven uit Zuidoost-Azië die op zoek zijn naar technologische oplossingen en innovaties zoals die in Israël te vinden zijn”.
Ofer Sachs, directeur-generaal van het Israëlische Export Institute: “De waarde van de medische apparaten sector wordt geschat op $ 308 miljard wereldwijd en zal naar verwachting groeien tot $ 435 miljard in 2017. De medische technologie industrie it is één van de markten dat in de afgelopen jaren de snellste groei en transformatie heeft ervaren. Export van medische apparatuur blijft stijgen. De Israëlische life sciences industrie staat bekend om zijn innovatie en creativiteit en kent meer dan 500 leveranciers op het gebied van automatisering en medische apparatuur, tele-geneeskunde en biotech R&D. De uitvoerwaarde van al de bedrijven staat voor honderden miljoenen dollars. Als resultaat van de samenwerking tussen het netwerk van de Foreign Trade Administratie en haar netwerk van handelsvertegenwoordigers alsmede het Israël Export Institute konden vorig jaar 1.100 top zakelijke bijeenkomsten worden georganiseerd voor de Israëlische deelnemers aan het Israëlische paviljoen. - Nuvo — Israeli startup Nuvo has developed a “sensor belt” for pregnant women, monitoring uterus contractions and the pulse of the embryo or fetus. The data is transferred to the Cloud transmitting to any predetermined computer or smartphone. In this way, an obstetrician can track patients, identify cases of fetal distress and instruct an expecting mother to be hospitalized. The devices is used one hour per day, but also allows for 24-hour monitoring when necessary. Nuvo was established in 2007 and is located in Tel Aviv. The company currently employs 17 people.
- Hip Hope Technologies Ltd. (HHT) is the developer of Hip HopeTM, a revolutionary active device intended to reduce fall impacts causing hip fractures in seniors suffering from conditions such as low bone density (osteoporosis) and from loss-of-balance related fall events. Hip fracture is the most common severe fracture among elderly people, associated with extremely high rates of mortality and morbidity.The Hip HopeTM belt-shaped device incorporates a highly advanced fall detection system, comprising a unique set of sensors and fall detection logic. Once an impending collision with a ground surface is identified, the system activates two fast deploying airbags that radically attenuate fall impact. The device provides additional functionalities, such as: Remote fall alert transmission, ongoing motion and activity data logging, built-in emergency-distress button, a GPS locator and pockets for storing small-size personal items.

- iFeel Labs asthma digital therapy — Kids addicted to mobile games? This Israeli innovation will change the way children suffering from asthma use an inhaler, making taking their medicine on time “part of the game.” From the company’s communiqué: Our apps are essentially a collection of favorite and popular mobile games (like Candy Crush) which have been converted to even more exciting biosense games. The mobile game guides the user when exactly to inhale and exhale to enjoy the scientific benefits from breathing in harmonious rhythm with your heart – HRVB. You can only progress in the game when you are breathing properly and healthily.
- MobileODT: Enabling Cervical Cancer Screening for Every Woman Everywhere — This Israeli development uses patients’ smartphones to diagnose cancer and other diseases. By building smartphone-based medical instruments, the technology enables health providers to delegate services further down the “treatment chain” (e.g. from doctors to nurses), to increase the range of health services and to reduce expensive treatment costs. The novel technology has been tried and used in 11 countries. MobileODT’s improved visual assessment system (EVA) was launched in May, 2015 and enables the diagnosis of cervical cancer. The company claims this is a first step in the development of a comprehensive range of tools for health providers that will enable visual diagnosis through the use of mobile devices.
- Doctome — Hybrid Care, Everywhere — The situation is quite common: a child wakes up at the middle of the night with high fever and the parent needs to decide whether to take them to the nearest hospital (which in some cases can be more than 1 hour away) or to stay at home, wait until the morning, and see a doctor at the clinic, without knowing exactly how to treat the child. This is a very tough decision a parent must take, without necessarily having the skills to make the right decision.Doctome is an Israeli company that provides a holistic solution for these kinds of situations. Doctome developed an innovative telemedicine platform that enables provisioning of online medical consultations, using video calls/chat anywhere around the globe. The consultations are done by doctors speaking the patient’s language, 24/7, 365 days a year. EHR and document generation are part of the system. Clinical summary, referral to ER and digitally signed prescriptions are sent securely to the patient as a byproduct.
