Canada to Modernize Israel Free Trade Agreement

Prime-Minister-Stephen-Harper-Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced his country will begin talks with Israel to expand the free trade agreement between the two countries.

Harper made the announcement following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the 21st Jan 2014 in Jerusalem. They plan to enhance a trade agreement that came into force in 1997 with provisions to address regulatory matters and deal with other non-tariff trade barriers, according to a statement released by Harper’s office in Ottawa.

Negotiations between the two countries will begin Feb. 3, according to the statement.
