Amit Lev, Trade & Investment Commissioner to SA 

Mr. Amit Lev is the Trade & Investment Commissioner, head of the Economic Mission at the Israeli embassy in South Africa. The Economic Mission’s role is to enhance business collaboration between Israeli and SA companies, attract investments from SA to Israel and vice versa and promote trade agreements in the region.  In his last position, Amit was the manager of development finance institutions department at Israel’s Ministry of Economy & Industry. In this capacity he integrates Israeli companies in development projects of the World bank, IDB, etc. In addition he manages development funds on behalf of the Israeli government in order to expose Israeli technologies for decision makers at these institutions.

As part of Amit’s role at the Ministry, he was part of a team that established few Healthcare funds with the IFC and assists Israeli digital healthcare companies to penetrate the US market.

Prior to that Amit was a marketing & sales manager in an Israeli startup. He was in charge of all global business collaborations with customers, distributors and integrators in several countries

Amit holds a bachelor degree in information system management from Ben-Gurion university


Nicholas Friedman, Trade Officer, Sector Manager: Water, Energy, Mining and HLS

Nicholas Friedman has broad exposure to the business world having worked in several accounting and auditing positions. Media Industry was a highlight working at Radio 702 from 1995-1999 in various freelance roles and being involved at the inception of the Chai FM Radio Station in 2007. It is in the area of customer service though where he has been most passionate where he held positions in Ecommerce Startups and Telecoms Industry. A further highpoint in his career was working in Mamelodi Township for one year for a social entrepreneurial non-profit organization in the health sector.

Nicholas holds a Bachelors Degree with the University of South Africa and took part in a Graduate Program at a Big Five Banking Group which included a one year certificate in Business Management with the Graduate Institute of Management Technology.

Nicholas took part in several self-development Courses from More to life, Hospice of Witwatersrand and a three month Seta Skills Program. In these courses and in Workplace environments Nicholas has focused on honing communication and inter-personal skills.

Nicholas has been employed at The Israel Trade Office since February 2014 Mostly responsible for business development for water, energy technologies, mining and HLS Sectors and also for much time involved with social media responsibilities.


Katlego Tong, Trade Officer, Sector Manager: Banking, Insurance, Education and Consumer Goods 

Katlego serves as Trade Officer, in this capacity she leads the trade activity in Insurtech, Edtech and Fintech sectors and integrates day-to-day relationships with business collaborators. She stems from a marketing and advertising background having worked in media, and she holds a BCom Honours degree in Marketing Management.
