The Israel Pavilion at Medica 2013

Medica is the world’s largest medical trade fair hosting professionals from a wide range of the medical and healthcare fields. Taking place in Dusseldorf Germany between the 20 and 23 of November, the trade fair this year attracted approximately 132,000 visitors from over 100 nations.

Representing a vibrant hub of creativity and originality, the Israel pavilion stood out as one of the most popular places at Medica. This was largely thanks to the standard of cutting edge technologies on display, but also thanks to the energy, enthusiasm and hard-work of Israeli trade officers, who were busy scheduling meetings with companies from around the world.

This all culminated in an impressive 1,100 meetings being held between Israeli companies and potential clients, end-users or investors. The interest in Israeli medical technology was clear and tangible. This was, of course, supported by the highly positive and complementary feedback that we received from visitors to the pavilion, during the show.

With 46 Israeli companies exhibiting this year, there was a lively atmosphere and a constant buzz at the Israel Pavilion. The Trade and Economic Office from the Embassy of Israel in London took an active role in attracting leading UK companies to the pavilion, to meet with the Israeli exhibitors and initiate a dialogue. In total, we were able pre-arrange more than 50 individual meetings between Israeli companies and thier UK counterparts, the vast majority of whom were distributors with direct route to the market.

Throughout the preparation process for Medica, we have been able to familiarise many UK companies with some of the innovative products and services developed by the Med-Tech industry in Israel and, so far, these UK companies have shown a particular interest in telehealth solutions (specifically those using advanced connectivity technologies and patient monitoring), and in non-invasive diagnostics of blood parameters.

The Trade and Economic Office in London is now busy with the follow-up to all of those meetings and will be assisting those companies in developing a dialogue with the very best Med-Tech solutions that Israel has to offer.
