The ‘Start-Up Nation’ delegation to Israel took place between the 15th and the 18th of May and was put together by the Trade Ministry in London, The Export Institute in Tel Aviv and WPP The Store.
The initial aim of the delegation was to introduce the exciting Israeli tech start-up environment to senior members of the advertising and new media sectors within the UK with an overall goal of achieving significant collaborations between the two markets.
Being the largest advertising agency in the world, WPP brought a large delegation of nearly 30 people, which included CEOs and other senior executives from many companies within their group, such as Media Comm, Maxus, GroupM and Olgilvy & Mather. This was in addition to bringing executives from some major clients and partners, such as P&G, VW, Semaphore and Deutsche Bahn.
We were able to build a bespoke program over an intensive three days, which included one-to-one meetings with over 30 innovative start-ups and special sessions led by prominent investors and established serial entrepreneurs, such as Eden Shochat. This was in addition to several rooftop networking events, business lunches and sumptuous dinners all over Tel Aviv, sponsored by the likes of HP, Microsoft, Similarweb and Intel. The trip finished with a sunset tour of the old City of Jerusalem, which left the everyone awe-inspired and contemplating the region’s depth of history and Israel’s exciting entrepreneurial present and bright future.
The trip left everyone eager to forge collaborations with Israeli companies and I would like to thank everyone involved in making this trip such a success.
