The Israeli electricity authority is in the process of privatizing its electricity plants, while EDF has announced they will be part of the tender.
The company intends on incorporating its efficiency, technology and innovation in the power plants. They are interested to be a meaningful player in Israel’s energy market, while the country is transferring to natural gas.
The CEO of EDF has said “Israel is a strategic destination for our investments. This is a rare business opportunity, as usually these kind of properties need to be built from scratch. Here there is an opportunity to purchase, in a country that has a good business and regulatory environment”.
EDF is already active in Israel in the field of renewable electricity, but this is its first interest in conventional electricity in Israel.
EDF is considered one of the largest electricity companies in the world.
