On July 28-29, a delegation of five Israeli gaming technology companies visited the tri-state area to meet with local investors, brands and agencies from the social gaming and media sectors.
Monday morning, July 28, the delegation kicked off with an investor breakfast hosted by Mr. Eitan Sapir at Bank Leumi USA‘s magnificent new Fifth Avenue offices. At the breakfast, each Israeli company had an opportunity to pitch their offerings to a board room filled with early stage VCs, angels and private equity investors. Following the breakfast, the delegation enjoyed 1-on-1 meetings and networking time with the investors.
On Monday evening, the law firm of Goodwin Proctor hosted an “Israeli Gaming Technology Meetup” at their midtown offices, located in the luxurious New York Times building. The event attracted game developers, industry enthusiasts and ad agencies, as well as members of the press. The highlight of the evening was a panel on “Trends, investment and monetization in gaming,” moderated by Dr. Liel Leibovitz, a visiting professor at New York University and leading researcher on digital gaming. Other participants included Goldy Gold of Game-Is (Israel’s digital gaming association), Joos van Dreunen of SuperData Research and Maxwell Forman, who is researching a dissertation on gamification at Columbia University.
Following the panel, the Israeli companies exhibited their solutions, and the event concluded with networking and refreshments. CLICK FOR MORE PHOTOS.
In addition to attending events, the Israeli delegation also enjoyed site visits and personal meetings with several organizations in the area. On Monday in NYC’s Silicon Alley, the companies visited Opitimatic (a video advertising agency), Herotainment (a game development studio) and BrainPop (game developer and edutainment for kids).
The following morning, the Israeli companies began their day with a pitching session at Y&R’s stunning Columbus Circle offices, in front of the famed agency’s top digital media and technology team. Following this, the delegation wrapped up their activities in our region with a visit to fabulous New Jersey, where they stopped by two game development studios, Majesco and Slingo, for meetings.
